Re-purpose is Beautiful

This September I ventured into a special exhibit at Gladstone Hotel. The exhibit was dedicated to PDA's Project at Edmonton Place Renovation http://publicdisplaysofaffection.ca/. The key idea was to use the recycled and scrap materials found in the existing building. I found the idea of using the fragments of objects and giving them a new life fascinating. From there my concept for this little dress was born. I took particular interest in the work of two young designers from Ryerson School of Interior Design, who came up with their 'Sequence' table on the PDA's premise.

Simultaneously,  I was searching for visual and aesthetic guidelines to formulate the forms and lines within my piece. Here, I resorted to a fantastic jewelry designer from Montreal City by the name of Christophe Poli.

Here is the outcome of this design venture:

All material is project scraps of raw silk with applied detailing at front and back.
